R4 Pirate

Step ONE: Loading The Kernal To The R4DS:
1. Navigate to http://www.r4ds.com/download-en.htm and download the latest R4 v.XXX Kernal.
2. Once the download is complete, extract the files to your specified folder on your computer:
– The following files will be extracted:
_system_ folder
moonshl folder
_DS_MENU.DAT
_DS_MENU.SYS
_DS_MSHL.NDS
3. Plug the MicroSD card into your computer and drag all extracted files to your MicroSD. Easy enough? Now you’re ready to add games.

Step TWO: Adding Nintendo DS Games:
1. Create a new folder on your MicroSD card
(I labeled mine as “Games_NDS”)
2. Download NDS ROM’s from your favorite ROM site (NDS-ROMs.com & Romsite.net)
(They will download as a .zip file)
3. Extract the .zip file to a folder on your computer.
4. Drag the extracted .nds file to your newly created folder (Games_NDS) on your MicroSD.
5. Finished! Now throw that MicroSD into your R4 and select the game for a jolly time.

Step THREE: Adding NES Games:
1. Create a new folder on your MicroSD card
(I labeled mine as “Games_NES”)
2. Download the following emulator at: http://www.cs.utah.edu/~tew/nesDS/
3. Drag the downloaded “nesDS.nds” file to your newly created NES folder on your MicroSD.
(This is what you’ll need to play NES games from the R4)
4. Now you’re ready to add games. Repeat Pirate Step Two to add NES games to your MicroSD.
(Here is a reliable source for NES ROM’s: The Old Computer.com)
